Volunteer Nepal National Group (VolNepal) is a local, independent, non-profit organization. Our primary objective is to facilitate the social development processes in Nepali communities.
We focus on sustainable development in rural areas aiding with, education, medical projects, livelihood support and more (please see our Projects page). We strive to complete our goals with awareness and integrity to the community and the environment.
Community involvement is critical to the successes of our project, which is why we ensure all community members– the women, youth, and community leaders- understand and are willing to not just aid but carry on the projects once we have left the community. By involving marginalized people in our community project plans, we take the first steps to creating self-made change and bettering communities from a grass roots level.
We believe communication is key. That is why we guarantee efficient and effective communication between our volunteers, the communities we serve, our valued donors, and the NGOs we partner with. Only by working together can we achieve positive change and create a better Nepal. To that end, we take great pride in being considered amongst the most responsible and reputable NGOs in Nepal. VolNepal was founded in 2000. After a few years in operation, we identified the need for a greater transparency and reputability with the international community, and thus we registered ourselves with the relevant local governing bodies. In 2005, we registered with the Chief District Administration Office of Kathmandu, as well as the Social Welfare Council of Nepal, both of whose primary functions are to oversee the maintenance of law and order, ensure human rights, and protect the humanistic livelihood of Nepal’s citizens in the case of a natural disaster.
Both the Chief District Administration Office of Kathmandu and the Social Welfare Council of Nepal require annual audits and financial reports to be submitted. Please visit our Commitment to Transparency page to view our Annual Reports (in the form of balance sheets).
